If you’re trying to connect to an SNMP device with an OID you found online that isn’t working, there’s a simple solution to finding the right OID.
First, you’ll want to pop on over to my SNMP guide in the Getting Started section and download/install the SNMP Tester. This will give you the ability to connect to your SNMP device and do an SNMP walk. Come back here when the SNMP Tester is connected to your SNMP Device or if you already have the ability to do an SNMP walk.
Run your SNMP test using the OID in the walk section of your SNMP tester and look at the results. Does the OID have an additional digit at the end? If so, test the new OID and check to see if that works.
Did the SNMP walk return with no data? Try removing a digit from your OID and run the walk again, slowly stepping back to see what the OIDs of the device are.
